Hello! I am so glad you are here and looking into early parenting support with your new arrival.

Hello!

I am so glad you are here and looking into early parenting support with your new arrival.

Falling pregnant and preparing for a baby is an exciting, and sometimes scary time, and there’s a lot of information already out there for parents to read, and courses to complete.

But, have you stopped to consider what comes next?

What happens after baby’s arrival?

When you’re home with your baby, how will you care for them?

How will you care for yourself? Who will care for you? Who will cook? Who will clean? Who will care for your older kids…or fur babies?

No other culture in the world expects new parents to cope alone.

Planning for your postpartum period, will be one of the most valuable things you do as you prepare to welcome your baby.

This is where I can help

Hi I'm Judy

I am the mother of four adult children and a grandmother to 10 beautiful grandchildren.
I have been a midwife for over 26 years, I’m an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and I have also undertaken further training on postnatal support.
Originally from New Zealand, I have worked all around Australia, and last year settled in the beautiful Whitsunday region.

Over the years I have seen how the main focus is always on pregnancy and childbirth preparation, with little thought given as to what life afterwards with a new baby will be like.
When a baby is born, so is a mother. The birth of a mother can be more intense than childbirth.

In my postpartum practice I provide mother centred care.  I believe the mother is the foundation, and the care she receives is then passed down to her baby, her family, and later her community.

I also believe the mother/baby bond is a sacred relationship and one that takes time and connection.  Overall, my goal is to support the mother in rest, healing, nourishment, connection and finding peace and contentment in their postpartum.

Whether it’s your first baby or your 10th, if you are giving birth, fostering, adopting or welcoming your baby via a surrogate, everyone needs and deserves help in the first few weeks of life with a new baby.
I would be honoured to gently guide you towards your intuition, facilitate healing and becoming the parent you want to be.

Why postnatal support?

“Right now at least 1 in 5 women experience anxiety, depression or both during the transition to parenthood in Australia. Similar rates are in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and N.Z. Research shows that fathers are likely to experience anxiety and depression at the same rates, but they aren’t being screened or diagnosed.  2/3 of mothers in Australia don’t meet their breastfeeding goals.  The leading cause of maternal deaths in Australia, N.Z., Canada, U.S. and the U.K. is suicide “

My passion is in providing postpartum (after birth) care and support at home for families, to ease their transition into parenthood.
As a postpartum professional I am trained to support families physically, emotionally and practically, so that you can focus on healing and being the parents you want to be.
You deserve rest, nourishment, care and love so that you can pass on the same thing to your baby.

My hope is that you will regard this care as an investment into your families future, and one that will benefit everyone for years to come.
It would be my privilege to accompany you on this next amazing journey in your life, to hold your hand and to guide you.

Yes! Perfect for a baby shower gift (only so many onesies you can have!) or for family members to gift you a care package when they can’t be there.

Please book early as I only care for a small number of parents a month.

No. Visits and times will be tailored to your unique needs on the day.

This will depend on what you need on the day – sometimes it will be more, sometimes less. That is why I didn’t want to set an hourly rate.
