Your baby’s relationship with food begins long before they eat a full meal.
The first tastes, textures, and mealtime experiences help shape not only eating habits, but also trust, body awareness, confidence, and connection.
At mumabuba’s Baby First Foods class, we go deeper than introducing solids.
This small-group class explores how babies experience food emotionally, physiologically, and developmentally – helping you understand not just what to offer, but how to support your baby through this important transition.
Together we explore the foundations of responsive feeding, your baby’s developing digestive system and microbiome, practical first food guidance, and ways to create calm and connected mealtimes.
Whether you are feeling excited, nervous, overwhelmed by conflicting advice, or simply wanting to feel prepared before solids begin, this class is designed to help you approach this milestone with confidence.
Your baby’s first relationship with food can influence far more than nutrition
When babies are supported with safety, responsiveness, and curiosity, mealtimes may become opportunities to build:
At the same time, understanding your baby’s developmental readiness can help reduce pressure, confusion, and unnecessary stress for parents.
This class helps you understand what is normal, what deserves attention, and how to support your baby without feeling like you need to do everything perfectly.
I love the baby led approach because it means my babies would eat whatever we ate at meal time with us every night. By the age of one my kids were all independently feeding themselves with a bowl and fork/spoon and not making any mess by then, because for the past six months their hand eye development was being worked on in the beginning. This meant that when we went out to dinner and anywhere else, I didn’t need to bring anything as my kids have always ate whatever we ate 🙂 The baby led approach actually makes life easier especially. Once you have multiple children it also means my children learnt from a young age that food needs to be chewed and this helps prevent the risk of them putting things in their mouths and just swallowing.

Explore different feeding approaches and understand how to choose what feels supportive for your baby and your family.
Discuss nourishing first foods, iron needs, introducing allergens, food presentation, and simple preparation ideas without overwhelm.

Many classes focus on milestones and checklists.
This class takes a wider view.
Rather than simply telling you what foods to start with, we explore your baby’s experience of feeding and help you understand the “why” behind recommendations.
You’ll leave with practical knowledge, greater confidence, and a deeper understanding of how these early food experiences fit into your baby’s emotional, digestive, and developmental wellbeing.
Following the class, you’ll receive supportive handouts so you can revisit key concepts and feel guided once solids begin at home.
Small class sizes (maximum 6 participants) also mean there is space to ask questions and feel supported.
